2008....the year we hated on those womanizers

That's right...we are at the end of yet another year. 2008.  And what a year it was.  I'll be honest...it wasn't the best year. In fact, it was a pretty crappy year. Lots of hard times, stuff I didn't wanna have to deal with.  But instead of focusing on all that, I'll focus on the good things.  I made some amazing friends at law school and got closer to friends i already had.  I got to live in a great city for 6 months with my best friend.  And the Lakers beat the Celtics on Christmas day(though they did lose the championship...but i said i wasnt gonna talk about the bad so...yea).  My resolution is the same as it is every year...to be a good person.  But I wanna add something to it.  I am going to try to de-stress my life as much as possible.  I'm going to accept things for what they are and not worry so much about what people think of me.  And I'm gonna try to make people happy, but also focus on doing things that make me happy.  My saying for the years 2009 will be  "it is what it is."  I will deal with life this year...even if it doesnt go how i want it to.  Wish me luck.

Now time for my end of the year recap....

***********2008 HOT LIST**********************

Well, this year was crazy....the economy was in the hole, gas prices were killer, and we elected Barack Obama to be our next president(YES WE CAN) and hopefully save us. Everyone was addicted to their iphones and blackberry storms, as seen on tv products and Britney Spears made a huge comeback, and lots more. But one thing's for sure...2009 is bound to be even better. Get ready.

HOTTEST SONG OF 2008...
This year there were a few songs that were played a lot on the radio, but for the first time, there was no 1 song that screamed "biggest song of the year" to me.  Past year's winners (We Belong Together, SexyBack, Crank Dat(Superman)) were so clearly deserving of the win.  This year, things just aren't that clear.  That being said...I'm giving the honor of "Hottest song of 2008" to a song that I just loved.  A song that was infectious, genius, and just plain good. And even though this artist's album isn't elligible to be on 2008's end of the year charts, it was incredible and it did extremely well.  The artist herself is one of the true talents we'll be talking about for years to come.  She has comeback for real this time.  She's earned her spot as the queen of pop. And she's here to stay.

So without further a due, I give the honor to one my favorite artists of all time.

@RCH'S HOTTEST SONG OF 2008 is....

"Womanizer"-Britney Spears

Hop up out the bed, turn my swag onnnn

Hi guys.  I decided to make my triumphant return today, the day before my 23rd birthday.  Wow 23...that's a big number.  Luckily not too big though. I have been writing in here a bit off and on over the past few months, but I never got around to posting any of the entries for the public to see.  I might do that at a later time but for now...let me write something new.

I can't believe how insane the past year has been.  My birthday happens to be near the end of the year, so I could write my end of the year reflection right now...but I'll wait til' New Years Eve as I usually do.  Basically to sum it up, this has been a year of a lot of ups and downs.  I guess right now I'm just hating how fast time is passing me by.  Feels like there's just not enough hours in a day to do the things I want to do.  Pretty soon, I'm gonna be 90...and what am I gonna have to show for it? NOTHING. Haha, jk.  Oh well, just gotta make the best of the time I do have right?

Tomorrow's big plans involve class(Booooo), me going to stl with the rents for dinner, probably staying the night, then going back to btown so that my wife and other peeps can throw me some sort of semi-party or something...haha.  Should be a good time.  I was thinking back to the old days though, birthdays were so exciting.  It was like I was a damn celebrity...everyone and their brother paid attention to me and got me gifts and cards and things.  Things are so different now that all my friends are spread out all over the country. Sighs. I miss everyone.

Ok who am I trying to kid with all that serious stuff...TOMORROW IS MY BDAY and as usual, I am ecstatic!!!!

P.S. I love everyone.

Signing off for the last time as a 22 year old,

@RCH

10 years...

Wow. 10 years since I left my homestate of California.  Wow...

That's a depressing thought if there ever was one...

People always seem to be confused as to why I have such a strong connection with...not a person...but a state.  They just don't get it.  But it's pretty simple.  California is my home. It always will be.  Being there for so long made me everything that I am. My personality, my interests, my "spark"...it all comes from that state. It's what i identify with.  And think about it...everyone wants to identify with a group. I feel a connection with other Californians.  I met a few guys in Daytona from the Bay Area...and we all just immediately clicked.  We just understood each other better than other people.

Ever since I moved here, I've felt weird.  But my secret...I guess I can tell you guys cuz' I trust you...is that I use California as a coverup.  I somehow justify my weirdness by saying "Oh if i lived in california, i would be considered normal." I'm realizing now that no matter where I go, even if i did go back home, I would still be weird.  That's a hard thing to face.  It's bad enough when you feel like you don't belong in a certain state.  It's deadly when you feel like you don't belong in this world in general.  And to be honest...I feel like that...a lot....

This quote from Haley on One Tree Hill explains it a little better...

"Sometimes I feel incredibly disconnected, uncomfortable in my own skin. Or, kinda like I don't fit into this world. Like I was born at the wrong time, and I don't belong."

From the outside, I seem like a happy, nice girl who is spoiled rotten by her parents and loved by "everyone."  That's not really who I am.  Except for the "nice" part...I really am nice. It's not fake. It's not an act. So if it seems like i care a little too much, well, that's just how I feel.  I can't change that.  But the rest of my image isn't necessarily accurate.  My life isn't always perfect, people don't always like me, and sometimes I have serious issues at home.  My point is, don't assume things are always as they appear to be.  You might come to realize that maybe there's more to a person than their number of friends on facebook and their brand new iphone.

Anyway, that's enough for now. I miss my state a hella lot and I really hope I get to go back soon. I miss In-N-Out burger, the Golden Gate, Ghiradelli Square, sea lions at Fisherman's Wharf, Cable Cars, Danville, being able to go the California Pizza Kitchen whenever i wanted, beautiful weather, friendly and trendy people, etc etc...

GOD BLESS THE BAY.

Californian forever,

@RCH

2007...the year we cranked that soulja boy

Hey guys, it's my tradition to do an end of the year blog every year, and I can't break tradition so here I go.  2007 was absolutely crazy...and to be honest, it wasn't the greatest year of my life.  School was a nightmare...taking 18 hours of bio and psych was no picnic, and U of I's stupid gen ed rules caused major stress as I neared graduation time.  My personal life was chock-ful of drama, with just about everyone.  Guys and friends gave me major headaches and heartaches...and I guess I caused them to have some too.  My mom went from loving me to hating me, and back again.  To end the year, I went on a 3 week vacay all over the world, which went quite well, until the 5 minute drive home from the airport...and well, you all know what happened then.  So here I sit, on the last day of 2007...a little bruised, both inside and out, but overall, okay.  If I learned anything this year, it's to be strong and keep the faith.  Life is just not meant to be perfect, but eventually, the right people and right things will come to you.  Everything happen for a reason, I honestly believe that. There's this quote from One Tree Hill that I really like...here it goes...

"Sometimes it's easy to feel like you’re the only one in the world who's struggling, who's frustrated, unsatisfied but barely getting by.  That feeling’s a lie. And if you just hold on, just find the courage to face it all for another day, someone or something will find you and make it all ok.  Because we all need a little help sometimes.  Someone to help us hear the music in the world. To remind us that it wont always be this way.  That someone is out there.  And that someone will find you."

That being said, I think I found the person who's supposed to make it all ok.  She's the best friend I've ever had and the greatest person I've ever known.  We've had a lot of problems this past year, but it all comes back to us loving each other so much and being scared to lose each other.  Most people don't ever find a person like her...someone they can trust and be themselves with and have fun with all at the same time.  Most people don't have a real best friend.  But I do.  So despite the crappiness of this year, one really great thing came out of it.  The realization that I am no longer alone.

Alright so that's it. Goodbye to 2007 and all the crap that came with it!  Here's to 2008...let's make it great(man, i love how creative i am with the rhyming haha)!!!!!

NOW ON TO THE HOT LIST!

~~~~~~~~~~2007 HOT LIST~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***NOTE: There is nothing too serious on this list, no real news stories...this is just something fun i do at the end of the year. I'm not as superficial as I seem, I promise! haha
HOT MUSIC:::
It is now time to pick the hottest song of 2007 according to the only music expert that matters...ME.  This year was a tough year, there were quite a few songs that got the public's attention.  But after careful consideration I decided to go with the song that impacted everyone...a song that had not only a catchy beat and lyrics, but also a dance...that everyone was doing...from little 5 year old ballet students to big name celebrities like Natalie Portman.  So now without any further a do...the hottest song of 2007 is...
Drumroll please....
SOULJA BOY(CRANK DAT) by SOULJA BOY TELL EM'
If I had to pick a number 2 song, I'd go with Umbrella-Rihanna f/Jay-Z...that song was fire too, and we all know it.
But here's what Billboard had to say...can't exactly disagree with them, all of the top 10 deserved to be there....
1. Irreplaceable-Beyonce
2. Umbrella-Rihanna f/Jay-Z
3. Sweet Escape-Gwen Stefani f/Akon
4. Big Girls Don't Cry-Fergie
5. Buy U A Drank(Shawty Snappin')-T-Pain f/Yung Joc
6. Before He Cheats-Carrie Underwood
7. Hey There Delilah-Plain White T's
8. I Wanna Love You-Akon f/Snoop Dogg
9. Say It Right-Nelly Furtado
10. Glamorous-Fergie f/Ludacris
Other blazin' trax...just off the top of my head...
Britney Spears-Gimme More, Lips of an Angel-Hinder, Great Escape-Boys Like Girls, How Far We've Come-Matchbox20, Low-Flo-Rida f/T-Pain, Bartender-T-Pain f/Akon, Bubbly-Colbie Callait, First Time-Lifehouse, Shawty is a Ten-The Dream, Wall to Wall-Chris Brown, Soulja Girl-Soulja Boy Tell Em', How Do I Breathe-Mario, What Goes Around(Comes Around)-Justin Timberlake, etc. etc. etc.
There is one song...that I will award "The most underplayed song of 2007" to...this is a song that really should have blown up on the air cuz' I have never loved an R n B song like I do this one...
i15- Lost in Love
If you don't have it, you definitely need to get it...it is hotttt.
And not surprisingly, Daughtry tops out the album charts...great album with huge hits like "Home" and "Over You." It's also great to see Hannah Montana and High School Musical 2 Soundtracks on the Top 10...good to know that pure pop music is making a comeback:)
Dying to be alive...
*Sidenote: Everyone should check out the new Nick Lachey song, "Ordinary Day." It really fits this blog entry and it's a good song...listen to it here:
http://www.zshare.net/audio/59904187ec1d79/
Hey everyone, man no one writes in their blogs anymore...it's crazy how much the fad has died down.  i'm long overdue for an update.  let's see...where to begin...
My vacation was fabulous for the most part.  i was sick for some of it but other than that it was amazing.  Paris is the most beautiful city i've ever seen...well next to San Francisco of course Everyone should go there, especially during Christmas time. Yes, it'll be cold...but the lights, the decorations, etc...are amazing.  I'd give anything to see that Eiffel Tower lit up with Christmas lights again.
I could go on and on about the trip, but I have something more important to write about. I already posted this on facebook, but just in case you haven't read it there, you can read it here. Didn't want to make a big deal out of this, but i think writing about it will make me feel better.
I flew in Wednesday night...on the way out of the Btown airport(as a lot of you know, I live about 5 minutes from the airport), we were trying to turn on to Empire street and a 4x4 going about 50mph slammed into our car. In particular, slammed into my door(i was sitting behind the drivers seat). The car spun around, my window shattered, the glass fell all over me, the car became undriveable.
I saw it coming. Straight at me. That feeling of shock...the physical and emotional pain you feel on first impact...I cant really put into words. You can't breathe, your whole body is on fire. I was able to climb out of the car through the front door somehow...my door was destroyed.
The lady in the other car had a sore neck and back so she went to the hospital. I went to the hospital as well, considering my whole right side bounced off the luggage that i was sitting next to, and I was sore and shaking, so they recommended that I get checked out. Being in that ambulance on a stretcher...getting wheeled in...crazy experience, scary as frell. I had some xrays done on my leg and arm... had some contusions...aka serious brusing.
Now I'm really sore all over...cant really walk right etc. Taking some advil and tylenol now...trying to feel better and hoping that these ugly a$$ bruises go away. Dont have a car now, considering the other one's dead too. Life is a little crazy at the moment.
If that car had been going faster, if I didn't have my seatbelt on...I probably would have serious injuries. Or worse yet, I wouldnt be alive today.
There's a reason I'm telling you all this. Wear your seatbelt. Every single time you're in the car. I dont care if it's a 2 minute drive...most accidents occur less than 15 miles away from home. You are not invincible...you have just as much of a chance of getting hit as everyone else. You don't want to have any regrets. You don't want your loved ones thinking, "they'd be alive right now if they'd had their belt on" at your funeral. If you guys knew Troy Hari from U-High, you know he didn't have a seatbelt on when he got in his accident...and now he is no longer with us. So please, please, please...WEAR YOUR DAMN BELT. I almost didn't put my belt on this time...cuz I was so crowded with the luggage. Now I'm so glad that I did.
That being said, this was a life changing incident for me. I want you guys all to know that I love every single one of you. I dont tell some of you that enough. Instead I waste time worrying about why i forgot to buy a snowglobe in Paris or other stupid crap like that. Life is too short. It really is. It could be taken away from you at anytime. So don't take people for granted. Tell them you love them. Don't hold grudges, don't be angry with people for stupid reasons. Be yourself, don't worry about what other people think. Love life. Don't walk around with hate in your heart. It's scary how everything could go from being perfect to terrible in about 2 seconds. So enjoy every moment of your life. Don't put things off til' tomorrow cuz' there might not be a tomorrow.
Sorry for preaching, i just had to say what I was thinking. This shook me up pretty bad.
So to everyone, even if we don't talk much anymore, I love you. Seriously.
Ok, time to get some more rest.
Glad to be alive,
@rchie
